The Shuttle Crane

Science lesson commences

Having built the Space Shuttle my eldest son wanted to attempt to create a crane that was strong enough to lift it. It took many attempts and involved some clever work on their behalf to get the strengthening beams in the right places. We also had to create a rather large counter weight to stop the whole think toppling over.

I decided the other day that it might be cool to try to build a different model from an existing Lego set. Lego sometimes do this, often on larger models, but they have lots of clever people that design these things for a living right? I suspect they also spend time thinking about it, making drawings and possibly even sharing ideas with their clever colleagues.

Well, not me. Just take the model and break bits of it off and have a go at making something new.

And this is it.... 45 minutes of playing and head scratching. And the result? Judge for yourself. I don't think it looks too bad given the amount of effort I put in.

By the way it is based on the 42045 Hydroplane Racer

A day trip to Duxford inspired this one. It is loosely based on the RAF Phantom. Very loosely

So this is it, my first blog.

And what better way to start than to post a picture of this awesome Lego F1 car.
